'Cladding similar to that used on Grenfell Tower may not be removed from a privately owned high-rise in Croydon until residents pay the estimated £2m cost of the work, a property tribunal has heard.

Residents have been facing bills of £4,000 a week to have fire marshals on a “waking watch” since last June while the cladding remains in place.

Leaseholders are fighting the charge of up to £31,300 per flat, which could be levied when their next service charge is due in March.'
