A contributing factor as to why I gave up my HGV licence. Employers won't let you set your tachograph, when you start work, only when you leave the yard. Loading is the responsibility of the driver and it doesn't take five minutes, as often it's the driver alone who does this. While this alone is not a valid reason for falling asleep at the wheel, it does contribute to exceeding driving hours, that result in tired drivers. I have done agency work and the employers treat you like fodder. Drivers take the blame, but it's the system that's wrong.
