Sadiq Khan has always come across as yet another Tory in Labour packaging. His biggest concern during the riots was the embarrassment for the UK's image with the Olympics soon to begin. During the mayoral election, Labour zealots were incredulous when I dared to assert that Khan and Goldsmith are equally repellent. Johnson slashed police counters and now Khan is poised to finish the job. Apparently, leaked e-mail's, reveal a plan to scapegoat the Tories for police cuts that Khan himself is actually keen on. Labour as saviours from neoliberalism? Not quite.

Under proposals each of the 32 boroughs covered by the Metropolitan Police will be left with one 24-hour station.
