The Lobbying Bill - Email a Lord

Right now there is a Bill going through parliament that could limit our ability to campaign together and fight poverty around the world. The Bill has already been debated by MPs in the House of Commons, where sadly, despite thousands of people contacting their MPs, not enough MPs supported vital amendments.

But all is not lost; the Bill will be debated in the House of Lords for the first time on 22 October, where we have another great chance to get the changes we need.

Act Now: Email a member of the House of Lords using the form on the right to make sure they stand up for freedom of speech.

If the Lobbying Bill gets passed in its current form, there will be huge new restrictions in the year before an election. It would limit how much we can spend on campaigns to tackle the causes of poverty, and on the way we campaign, including limiting our ability to campaign with other charities.

If this law had been in place, historic campaigns like Make Poverty History might not have happened.

As Lords don't have constituencies, we have chosen one of the Lords it would be most useful for you to contact. We will also add your name to thousands of others on a letter we will deliver to every member of the House of Lords in a few weeks' time.
